Cool fact: The process of decellularization is a huge step in medicine because it allows for pretty much perfect organ transplantation, since it leaves no cells from the donor, the risk of rejection is pretty much non existent if non existent at all. Immunosuppressants only give you a few years before the organ is entirely rejected. Decellularization would make the organ have only the cells of the recepient, so no rejection. Afaik is still being studied to be used in transplants.

Does the calcein stuff go through like a diffusion type of transformation where the enzymes in the cells allow it to transform into its fluorescent form without using any energy or is it something like where it takes something from the cell in order to become the fluorescent version?
